Ms. Detanya Parker

Assistant Principal | Canton Elementary

Detanya Parker is a dedicated Assistant Principal at Canton Elementary, bringing 24 years of experience and passion to the field of education. She is a proud 2001 graduate of Mississippi State University, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in education. Ms. Parker went on to obtain a master’s degree in education from Mississippi College in 2006 and a master’s degree in Instructional Leadership from the University of West Alabama in 2013.

Throughout her career, Ms. Parker has remained committed to supporting student achievement and empowering teachers to deliver high-quality instruction. Her excellence in teaching was recognized in 2017 when she was named Teacher of the Year at Reuben B. Myers School of Arts and Sciences and selected as the Canton Public School District Teacher of the Year.

Ms. Parker continues to make a positive impact at Canton Elementary by collaborating with teachers, guiding instructional practices, and helping all students succeed.
