Where Readers Grow Wild

Hello CES Family,

My name is Lakia Smith, and I am excited to welcome your explorer to the Canton Elementary
School Library, where we grow, explore, and learn beneath our Canopy of Reading.

Just as a forest canopy shelters and connects all living things, our library is a place where
students can discover new ideas, explore exciting stories, and develop a lifelong love of
reading. Throughout the year, students will have opportunities to check out books, participate in
engaging library lessons, strengthen research skills, and expand their imaginations.

My goal is to help every student find books that spark curiosity, inspire creativity, and build
confidence. Whether they are exploring faraway places, learning something new, or getting lost
in a favorite story, the library offers an adventure for every reader.

I encourage you to read with your child, discuss the stories they bring home, and help them care
for their library books. Together, we can nurture a community of enthusiastic readers and
lifelong learners.
